What’s Included

Your trip includes everything you need for a successful day on the water. Capt. Bryce provides:

  • Premium fly fishing and light tackle spinning rods and reels

  • All flies, tackle, and/or bait

  • Ice and bottled water

If you’d prefer to fish with your own equipment, you’re welcome to bring it — just let Bryce know ahead of time when booking so he can plan accordingly.

What to Bring

To stay comfortable on the water, Capt. Bryce recommends bringing:

  • A hat and polarized sunglasses

  • A lightweight, long-sleeve fishing shirt

  • Lightweight, long pants for sun protection

  • Rain jacket, just in case

  • Sunscreen

  • Any snacks, lunch, and/or beverages you’d like to enjoy for the day

The skiff is designed for fishing, so there is no permanent shade onboard. Dressing for the sun will help you stay comfortable and enjoy your day on the water.

Gratuity

Please remember that your captain wants to catch fish just as bad, if not more, than you do. Even a fishless day involves a lot of work and preparation for your captain. Showing your appreciation through an additional gratuity is respected and remembered by your guide. An appropriate tip can start around $100 per day. If you feel you had an excellent experience and want to tip more, please feel free to do so.

FAQs

Do I need a fishing license?

1

No. When you book a charter with Captain Bryce Gabriel, his commercial fishing license includes coverage for his anglers fishing onboard. If you plan on trying some DIY fishing from your own boat, a kayak, a bridge, or wading during your stay in the Florida Keys, you will have to buy a Florida fishing license.

Is there a Deposit?

2

Yes. Captain Bryce Gabriel takes a $250 deposit upon booking your trip to hold your date(s). This $250 will roll into your trip rate, and the remaining balance will be collected upon returning to the dock at the end of your trip.

What forms of payment do you accept?

3

Captain Bryce Gabriel can accept payments in the form of cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

4

Your $250 deposit is fully refundable if you cancel 30 days or more in advance of your charter (with the exception of Tarpon Season). Deposits are non-refundable within 30 days of the first day of your charter(s). In the event of severe weather or tropical storms, Captain Bryce will first try to reschedule your date(s). If rescheduling is not an option, he will provide a full refund of your deposit.

Tarpon Season (April through June): all dates booked in Tarpon season are final. Upon confirming your dates, any deposit collected is deemed non-refundable.

Captain Bryce recommends bringing a rain coat on your trip, regardless of what the weather forecast predicts. The weather can be volatile and unpredictable in the Florida Keys, so expect the unexpected and always come prepared.

Captain Bryce will plan on fishing in all weather forecasts except for severe thunder storms. If there is forecasted light rain or winds between 20-25 knots, Captain Bryce might shift your start time to accommodate rain windows and run from storms.

Whether you’ve never held a fly rod in your hands, or you’re an experienced trout guide from Montana, if you’ve never fly fished in saltwater, it’s a brand new sport. Fly fishing on the ocean requires long, precise casts into the wind employing a double-haul. Beyond the cast, working the fly and hooking the fish is another challenge for those who are new to the sport. Practicing your cast beforehand is worth the effort.
